Auxiliary Support Worker - Transition House

Ksan House Society, through the Ksan House program, provides emergency housing and support services to women, and children, fleeing domestic violence. Ksan House Society is seeking applications from dedicated individuals for the auxiliary position of Shelter Support Worker.

Qualifications required

  • Diploma or Certificate in the field of social/human service work or related field and/or experience in a similar environment is an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written, communication and problem solving skills.
  • The ability to deal with clients and community agencies in a professional manner.
  • Knowledge of community resources                                                 
  • Self motivation.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.  
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.

The position may entail some shift work including weekends.  It is a unionized position with wages and benefits according to the Collective Agreement.  A satisfactory Criminal Record Check will be required. Ksan House Society, through the Ksan Residence and Shelter program, provides short term accommodation to men and couples.  Ksan House Society is seeking applications from dedicated individuals for the auxiliary position of Shelter Support Worker.

Qualifications required

  • Diploma or Certificate in the field of social/human service work or related field and/or experience in a similar environment is an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of First Nations issues.
  • Ability to work with homeless and/or transient individuals.
  • Understanding of issues related to homelessness and poverty.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills.
  • The ability to deal with clients and community agencies in a professional manner.
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • The ability to handle stressful situations.                                          
  • Self motivation.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.
